ARES SUPPORT

We exist to support you.

Your life is your mission — it's our mission to time it. We've made our livelihood on service and support, and we strive to give you the best possible support as a member of the ARES family. Review the topics below, and if you still have questions, contact ARES directly at 360-629-7415 or ares@areswatches.com.

What is a Mission Timer®?

A Mission Timer is a timer that independently measures time in two directions: elapsed time (backward) and remaining time (forward). To do this, ARES Mission Timers® feature two independent measuring systems — the dial and the bezel.

The dial is a standard 0–60 minute dial for measuring elapsed time. The bezel is marked 60–0 minutes for measuring remaining time. While located on the same timer, they are not correlated and function independently, using the same hour, minute, and second hand set.

How accurate is my Mission Timer®?

Accuracy is measured two ways: dial accuracy and bezel accuracy.

The dial, which measures elapsed time, is a precise measurement tool. The automatic movement is tuned to perform within a 10-second window — −4/+6 seconds per day, or 99.988% accuracy relative to the dial. This is an exceptional rate of performance and an internationally accepted standard.

The bezel, which measures remaining time, is a general measurement tool. It is machined with 120 clicks — one click every 30 seconds — so it cannot be more accurate than a half minute. Your bezel is rated to perform at ±30 seconds, a standard set forth and employed by elements within USASOC, and an accepted performance standard.

Warranty

Your ARES Mission Timer is guaranteed for life against manufacturing defects and/or craftsmanship errors. If your Mission Timer breaks because of ARES, it will be repaired or replaced, without question, for life.

Failure to seat the crown properly, normal wear and tear, scratches, dents and dings to the case or components, bezel or sapphire, loss, theft, misuse, drops, falls, destruction, or removal of the case back and/or crown — by anyone — are not covered by the Lifetime Warranty.

Ordering

Ordering for all ARES manufactured products and merchandise is available online. If you're unable to order online, contact us at 360-629-7415 and we can process your order over the phone. Phone order hours are 0900–1500 PST, Monday–Friday.

I think something is wrong. If you receive a damaged or defective item, contact us as soon as possible and we'll make every effort to replace it promptly. Provide your order number and item number from your confirmation email and we'll send return instructions.

This doesn't look like what I ordered. Email ares@areswatches.com with your original order number and a detailed description of the differences between what you ordered and what you received.

My strap is defective. All ARES® straps are guaranteed for life. Return a defective strap for a free replacement.

Why does my bezel sometimes look crooked? Three possible reasons, none of them problematic. First, there are 120 clicks on the bezel — two click positions for every minute — so you may just be "in between" clicks; fix it by clicking the bezel forward one click. Second, parallax: the ~2.5mm height difference between the top of the bezel and the base of the hands means the position appears to shift based on your viewing angle, like a speedometer seen from the passenger seat. Third, paint variation: the bezel markers are machined into the steel and filled with Super-LumiNova (the finest lume available, made in Switzerland by RC Tritec) via wet stamp, and slight bleed can give the appearance of misalignment. None of these affect function — when using the bezel your only reference is the hand stack, not the dial, and vice versa, since they operate independently. Every Mission Timer is checked and rated within specification. Wear freely.

There's condensation in my timer! DIVER-1 and GMT timers are rated to 1000 meters and FIELD-1 to 300 meters — condensation usually means the crown isn't fully closed. Hasty fix: open the crown fully and let it dry in the sun or near a heat source. Proper fix: send it in, and we'll repair any damage, assess any costs outside of warranty, and return it to you.
